- Chemical instability of materials under mechanical load;

- Influence of different external and internal factors (radiation, impurities, implantation, temperature, loading, chemical bond, dislocation density, etc.) on the mechanical properties;

- Mechanism of the deformation and destruction of crystals, coated systems and other materials under concentrated load action.

- Application of microindentation and nanoindentation methods for studying of different physical parameters and phenomena: hardness anisotropy, fracture anisotropy, mass transport, twinning, dislocation mobility, dislocation-disclination deformation mechanism, phase transformation, scale effect, etc.

- Tribology.

- Piezoresistivity and flexoelectricity in thin films.

- Thermoplastic composites and rubber.
